Banting: Approximately four hectares of forest reserve near the Sungai Kelambu Water Treatment Plant, located close to the Lionsteel industrial area in Banting, were destroyed in a fire this afternoon. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Officer Hamdan Hamzah reported that the department was alerted to the fire at 12:43 pm and promptly dispatched seven officers and personnel from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station to the scene with a fire engine.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, upon arrival at 1:03 pm, the operations commander confirmed that the fire involved a forest reserve estimated to be four hectares in size. The duty team on-site conducted monitoring and engaged in discussions with zone officers concerning the firefighting operation.

The Selangor State Forestry Department has been informed and will extend support by providing excavator assistance and activating tube wells near the fire site. Hamdan indicated that due to the absence of a water source and road access, firefighting efforts are scheduled to commence tomorrow.
