Four Bills, Including Sarawak 2027 Budget, To Be Tabled at Final Assembly Sitting

Jakarta:Sarawak The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) will hold its final sitting from October 12 to 21, where four Bills are set to be tabled, including the Supply Bill (2027), which outlines the Sarawak 2027 Budget for approval.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar emphasized the significance of this session as it marks the last sitting for the current term. He highlighted its importance during a press conference at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters.

The Sarawak Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, will present the Supply Bill (2027), while the Supplementary Supply Bill (2026) will be introduced by the Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas. Additionally, the Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill 2026 will be tabled by State Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn. The Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill will be presented by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.

The amendments to the Sarawak State Library Ordinance are intended to enhance governance and facilitate the creation of a memorial archive to preserve materials on significant figures, events, heritage, culture, and Sarawak's history. Amendments to the Public Holidays Ordinance aim to clarify the provision of replacement holidays when two public holidays coincide.

Furthermore, the Sarawak DUN is set to elect a new senator, as Senator Michael Mujah Lihan's term will conclude on December 10, 2026.
