Parit raja: A man's attempt to record social media content related to his hobby led to the discovery of a body wrapped and tied with netting at Sungai Tanjung Sembrong, Parit Raja, here yesterday. Muhamad Zul Fikri Borhanodin, 33, said he initially thought the floating object he spotted at about 11 am was an animal carcass, as such findings were common in the area. However, the strong foul smell and the object being wrapped in netting prompted him to take a closer look.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhamad Zul Fikri, who has been fishing at the river for more than two decades, said this was his second encounter with a body discovered at the location, following a similar incident involving a person who fell into the river several years ago. Meanwhile, Johor deputy police chief DCP Hoo Chuan Huat said three men aged between 26 and 40 were arrested around Batu Pahat on the same day the body was discovered to assist investigations.
He said police received information on the discovery at about 12.30 pm yesterday, and investigations found that the victim's wife had lodged a missing person report on July 29 regarding her husband's disappearance in Mutiara Rini, Iskandar Puteri.
