Former Utusan Journalists Launch Utusan Melayu+ News Portal

Kuala lumpur: Utusan Melayu Plus (Utusan Melayu+), a new news portal set up by former Utusan Melayu journalists, was launched today in conjunction with National Day, offering current news and in-depth analysis.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the portal aims to revive Utusan Melayu’s journalistic legacy in a digital format, with a focus on disseminating content through major social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, in line with current user trends.

Utusan Melayu+ is led by three key figures: Zulkiflee Bakar, editor-in-chief with over 30 years’ experience in print and digital journalism at Utusan Malaysia, Sinar Harian, and several news portals; Hisham Idris, formerly with Kosmo!, MalaysiaNow, and UtusanTV; and Mohd Nizam Hamzah, who has extensive experience in multimedia at Utusan Melayu and Malaysia Gazette.

Zulkiflee was quoted in the portal as saying it emphasizes a fast, reliable, fresh, and interactive style to meet the needs of today’s readers, who prefer information that is concise, visual, and easily shared.

“The choice of Aug 31 for the launch is symbolic of the emergence of a new, nationalistic media platform,” he said.

Operating from Garden City Business Centre, Ampang here, Utusan Melayu+ aims to grow into one of the mainstream digital news portals within the next few years.

The portal can now be accessed via the website utusanmelayuplus.com and its social media channels utusanmelayu+official (TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook).
