Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad Admitted to IJN for Observation

Kuala Lampur:According to BERNAMA News Agency, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) yesterday for observation. His son, Tan Sri Mokhzani, has stated that there is no cause for concern regarding his father's condition, explaining that the admission was primarily for monitoring purposes following the passing of his mother, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.

Mokhzani mentioned that the past two days have been stressful for Tun Dr Mahathir, but he is currently okay. His mother, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, aged 100, passed away at IJN on the morning of September 28 and was later laid to rest at Pusara Negara in Putrajaya with full State Funeral honours.

Datuk Seri Mukhriz, another son of Tun Dr Mahathir, had earlier noted that his father had been at IJN to accompany his mother during her treatment before her passing. Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah were married on August 5, 1956, celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this year. The couple has seven children.
