Former MIDA Director-General Sadasivan Pillay Passes Away at 86

Kuala lumpur: Former Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) director-general Datuk N Sadasivan Pillay died this morning after a brief illness. He was 86. The news was confirmed by a close family member.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the wake will be held at Nirvana 2 Centre Kuala Lumpur, today from 2 pm to 10 pm and on Monday from 9 am to 1 pm, after which the cortege will leave for Nirvana Shah Alam for cremation. Rajan also said Sadasivan is survived by his two sons, Deepak and Navin.

Born in Ipoh on February 29, 1940, Sadasivan joined the then Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, now known as MIDA, in 1968 as director of investment promotion. He became deputy director-general in 1976 and director-general in 1984, serving until his retirement in 1995. During his tenure, he led efforts to promote and facilitate domestic and foreign investment in Malaysia's manufacturing and services sectors.

Sadasivan was awarded the Bintang Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) in 1979, the Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) in 1987, and the Darjah Dato' Paduka Mahkota Perak in 1988.
