Kuala Lumpur:A former director-general of the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) was charged in the Sessions Court with deceiving the board over a land transfer deal in 2014.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Faizoull Ahmad, 66, pleaded not guilty to the charge of concealing a power of attorney that allowed Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd to transfer ownership of 16 parcels of land at Jalan Semarak. The alleged deception took place during a board meeting at Menara FELDA on September 2, 2014.
The charge falls under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which could result in a prison term of one to ten years, caning, and a fine. The prosecution proposed a bail of RM100,000, requesting that Faizoull's passport be surrendered and that he report monthly to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Faizoull's lawyer, Datuk Sukri Mohamed, requested lower bail due to his client's family obligations, citing his past cooperation with authorities. Judge Suzana set bail at RM70,000 with conditions.
The court scheduled the next case mention for November 6. Meanwhile, the MACC has initiated six new investigations into alleged misconduct within FELDA and its subsidiary from 2010 to 2020, including in the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City project. Additionally, former FIC CEO Mohd Zaid Abdul Jalil also faced charges related to similar allegations.
