Kuala lumpur: Former Broadcasting Director-General Datuk Abdul Rahman Hamid passed away due to a lung infection at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) this evening. His son, Mohamed Reza, confirmed that the deceased, aged 73, drew his last breath at 5:51 pm, after receiving treatment at the hospital for about a month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Rahman had been placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for two weeks before his passing. Mohamed Reza mentioned that his father's remains are expected to be buried in Bandar Nusaputra, Puchong, tomorrow morning.

Abdul Rahman served as the Director-General of Broadcasting for six years, from 2003 to 2009, contributing significantly to the nation's broadcasting sector during his tenure.
