Pekan simpang kuala: A Form Two female student escaped an attempted abduction in Pekan Simpang Kuala near here last night. Kota Setar police chief ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali stated that the incident occurred at 8.26 pm when the student, who attends a local secondary school, was approached by an unidentified man on a motorcycle.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, as the student was walking along a lane in the town, the suspect stopped his motorcycle in front of her and attempted to abduct her by grabbing and covering her face with his hand. The quick-thinking student managed to escape by biting the suspect's hand and ran to a nearby tuition centre to seek help.
ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali mentioned that the victim lodged a police report today. The case is currently being investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code, Section 511 of the Penal Code, and Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. Assistance from the D10 Forensics Division of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters has been sought to collect samples from the scene.
Efforts to trace the suspect are ongoing, and the police urge any members of the public with information regarding the incident or the suspect to contact them immediately for further action.
