Forensic Pathologist Files Police Report Over Threatening Messages

Kota kinabalu: Queen Elizabeth Hospital forensic pathologist Dr Jessie Hiu has lodged a police report after receiving threats following her testimony at the Coroner’s Court in the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir. District police chief ACP Kasim Muda confirmed that Dr Hiu lodged the report yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the threats were brought to the attention of the authorities by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital director. ACP Kasim Muda stated that the case is currently under police investigation and further details will be disclosed as the investigation progresses.

Dr Jessie Hiu was the first witness in the inquest into the death of the Form One student. During her testimony at the Coroner’s Court on Thursday, Dr Hiu stated that it was up to the court to decide whether the teenager had committed suicide or otherwise. The inquest is a crucial part of understanding the circumstances surrounding Zara Qairina Mahathir’s death, and the threats against Dr Hiu have raised concerns about the safety of those involved in the process.
