Foreigner Killed At Construction Site: DOSH To Take Action

Meru Raya: The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (JKKP) will take legal action against parties responsible for the death of a foreign worker who fell at a construction site in Meru Raya yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Office of the Perak DOSH director stated that legal measures will be pursued if any violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 are found. The department emphasized that it takes seriously every accident involving workers or the public, highlighting the employer’s duty to identify workplace hazards, conduct risk analysis, and implement effective risk control measures prior to work activities to minimize risks and prevent accidents.

The statement from the Perak DOSH also mentioned that an immediate halt to the roof installation work at the site has been mandated until the investigation is completed. The department has directed the employer to perform an internal investigation to determine the cause of the incident, propose improvements, and submit a case presentation to the department.

The Perak DOSH further plans to carry out comprehensive investigations by collecting relevant documents and recording witness statements. The incident involved a 43-year-old foreign construction worker who tragically died after a fall from a height of eight meters at the construction site of the Meru Raya Social Security Organisation (Socso) building. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene.
