Kajang: A foreign woman was arrested after police seized three transparent plastic packets containing crystalline powder suspected to be syabu (methamphetamine), weighing 2.13 grammes, from the vehicle she was travelling in at Jalan Reko, Kajang near here yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof stated that the woman was apprehended after the white Honda City she was in, along with a foreign man, fled a police check around 6.15 pm. Personnel from the Mobile Patrol Vehicle Unit of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division, Kajang District Police Headquarters, signaled the vehicle to stop for an inspection. However, the driver defied the order and sped towards Semenyih.

The vehicle subsequently entered the SILK Highway, heading towards Jalan Reko, and was reportedly driven dangerously before colliding with another vehicle. "Police successfully intercepted the vehicle near the Jalan Reko traffic light intersection. However, the male driver managed to escape, while the woman in the front passenger seat was apprehended," Naazron said in a statement.

The woman, who failed to produce valid travel documents, has been remanded for four days. The vehicle was seized for further investigation. The case is being investigated under several sections, including Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. Additionally, investigations regarding the road accident are underway under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Naazron mentioned that efforts are being made to locate the driver who fled the scene. Further investigations aim to determine the ownership of the seized drugs.
