Food Delivery Man Receives Six-Year Jail Term for Stabbing Wife and Son.

KUALA LUMPUR: A food delivery man was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment and two strokes of the rotan by the Ampang Sessions Court after he pleaded guilty to charges of stabbing and injuring his wife and son.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Judge Norshila Kamaruddin handed down the sentence to 34-year-old Mohd Syarifuddin Agussalim, ordering that he serve six years in jail and receive one stroke of the rotan for each charge. The sentences are to run concurrently from his arrest date on July 28.

The charges stated that Mohd Syarifuddin intentionally caused harm to his wife, Nur Zalikha Idam, 33, and their six-year-old son using two knives. The incident occurred behind a convenience store in Hulu Langat at 6pm on July 27.

The charges fall under Section 324 of the Penal Code and carry penalties under Section 326A, which include a maximum jail sentence of 10 years, a fine, or whipping.

Case details revealed that police were alerted by a public call regarding a stabbing incident. Investigations showed that
the attack followed an argument between Mohd Syarifuddin and his wife, centered on his refusal to divorce her.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Hairul Iqram Hairuddin advocated for a severe punishment, noting the serious nature of the crime, where the accused used a knife to inflict injuries on his family members. Mohd Syarifuddin, who did not have legal representation, requested a lighter sentence from the court.
