Pontian: The floods in Pontian have fully receded, reducing the number of evacuees in Johor to 266 as of 4 pm today, a decrease from 405 this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) chairman, Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, announced that 41 evacuees from nine families in Pontian were allowed to return home after floodwaters receded and their homes were declared safe.

“The remaining 266 evacuees from 79 families are still sheltering at two temporary relief centres – Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Gading and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Comel in Batu Pahat,” he stated today.

He further mentioned that the water level at Sungai Senggarang in Batu Pahat has exceeded the warning level, measuring 3.32 metres.

In the meantime, the weather is expected to be clear across nine districts in Johor, with the exception of Kluang, which remained cloudy this afternoon.
