Kuala lumpur: The flood situation worsened tonight with the number of evacuees rising in Kelantan, Perak, Selangor, Kedah, and Perlis.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan is experiencing a surge in evacuees, now totaling 9,882 people from 3,608 families housed at 40 relief centers across four districts. The water level of Sungai Golok has surpassed the alert level at two locations, measuring 7.68 meters in Bachok and 7.81 meters in Rantau Panjang.
In Perlis, evacuee numbers climbed to 2,017 from 594 families at nine relief centers, with affected residents primarily from Kangar, Arau, and Padang Besar. Meanwhile, Selangor has seen a significant rise to 1,732 evacuees from 474 families, prompting the opening of additional relief centers, now totaling 15.
Perak’s evacuee count increased to 1,786 from 554 families, with Manjung recording the highest numbers. The state has set up 20 relief centers to accommodate those affected. Kedah reported 1,088 evacuees from 344 families across nine centers, with several rivers exceeding danger levels.
In contrast, Terengganu witnessed a decrease in evacuees, now at 129 people from 53 families. Penang’s evacuee count slightly reduced to 385 from 103 families, with SK Lahar Yooi hosting the largest number.
