Flood Management Operation in Pahang Under Control, Says Menteri Besar

Kuala lumpur: The flood management operation in Pahang has so far been running smoothly and under control despite recording an increase in the number of victims, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail. He noted that the relevant parties have efficiently implemented the operation and distribution of aid at the temporary relief centre (PPS) to ensure the welfare of flood victims.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Rosdy mentioned that while the situation is under control, there might be slight delays in food preparation due to rain. He assured that any delay would be minimal, stating, "The food will definitely be there and arrive." This statement was made while visiting flood victims at the PPS at Dewan Orang Ramai Jaya Gading, which is currently accommodating 148 residents from 58 families.

Wan Rosdy also advised the public against spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary worry to the families of victims outside the flood area. He emphasized the importance of providing encouragement rather than disseminating unhelpful information. Additionally, he reminded residents not to return home without official permission for their own safety.

The Menteri Besar expressed concern over the increasing trend of flooding, albeit at a slow rate, and expressed hope that the rain would cease soon and the situation would improve. According to JKM's Disaster Information Centre, there are currently 10,478 victims from 3,477 families placed in 77 PPS across Kuantan, Maran, Rompin, Pekan, and Jerantut as of 2 pm this afternoon.
