Flood Evacuees in Kedah Decrease, Perak Numbers Steady

Kedah: The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has decreased, while the situation in Perak remains unchanged this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in Kedah, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) reported a reduction in evacuees to 259 individuals from 60 families, compared to 264 from 61 families the previous night.

All evacuees in Kedah are currently housed at two relief centres in the Pendang district: the Tanah Merah Sports Friends Complex Hall and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tunku Intan Shafinaz.

In Perak, the State JPBN Secretariat stated that the number of flood evacuees at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai, Manjung, remains constant at 124 people from 33 families. These individuals from Kampung Padang Serai have been at the centre since October 23, as the floodwaters have not yet fully receded in their village.

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage noted that the water level of Sungai Kinta in the Kinta district is at the warning level, with a recorded height of 248.02 metres, surpassing the normal level of 243.5 metres.
