Kluang: A temporary evacuation centre has been opened in Johor following a flash flood in Kampung Tengah Renggam, Kluang today. State Disaster Management Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani announced that the centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Sri Renggam was opened at 9 am, accommodating 75 victims from 30 families.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the heavy rain that began at midnight and continued into the early hours of the morning led to the inundation of the affected area. “As of 4 pm, only the Kampung Tengah Renggam area remains affected by the flash flood, with 75 victims,” stated Dr Azmi Rohani.
He further noted that several districts, including Muar, Mersing, Segamat, Kluang, Batu Pahat, and Kota Tinggi, experienced cloudy weather this afternoon.
