Gua musang: A relief centre (PPS) was opened in the district last night to accommodate flash flood victims following continuous heavy rain for more than three hours since yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 17 victims, involving 11 families in Felda Chiku 5, were evacuated to the PPS after their houses were flooded.
Meanwhile, Gua Musang police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo reported that the heavy rain, which began at about 7 pm, also led to flooding in several residential areas and main roads.
The affected roads include Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing near the Gua Musang District Police Headquarters and Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai at the Bendahara Traffic Light Intersection.
“The residential areas hit by flash floods are at Kesedar Paloh 1, Paloh 3, Chalil, Felda Chiku 3, and Felda Chiku 5,” he stated when contacted today.
As of this morning, the rain has stopped, and the situation is reported to be improving.
