Kuala lumpur: Five polytechnics have been recognised as Certified Learning Centres by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) to implement the 'Sijil Perakuan Hafazan Bertahap' (SPHB) under the Tekno-Huffaz programme initiative.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (POLYCC) director-general Dr Shamsuri Abdullah stated that the recognition showcases POLYCC's dedication to merging technical proficiency with religious knowledge in student development. He emphasized that Polytechnic and Community College institutions are focused on producing highly skilled graduates while also fostering values, moral conduct, and exemplary character within the POLYCC community. Dr Shamsuri made these remarks during a programme held in conjunction with Ramadan and the JPPKK breaking of fast event.
The five polytechnics that have received this recognition are Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin in Terengganu, Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Pahang, Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah in Perak, as well as Politeknik Port Dickson and Politeknik Nilai in Negeri Sembilan.
Dr Shamsuri also mentioned that POLYCC is actively pursuing strategic initiatives to fulfill the government's objectives. These initiatives include plans to upgrade 10 Premier Polytechnics by 2036, expand Bachelor's Degree programme offerings to support the country's Electrical and Electronics (E and E) sector, and conduct impact studies and future direction planning for community colleges.
The event was also attended by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Anesee Ibrahim.
