Penang: Five blackspot areas in Penang have been identified as the focus of the 2026 Penang Police Contingent Whitening the Blackspot United for Safety Crime Prevention Initiative. State police chief Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng announced that the initiative takes an integrated approach to addressing a range of security, crime, social, infrastructure, and environmental issues within these areas.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative embraces a comprehensive strategy that involves collaboration among police, government agencies, local authorities, elected representatives, communities, non-governmental organisations, the private sector, and strategic partners. This coordinated effort aims to foster a safe, clean, orderly, and conducive environment, aligning with the 'United for Safety' aspirations.

Datuk Lim made these remarks during an engagement session on the initiative held at Dewan Yayasan Aman in Kubang Semang. The session served as a platform for various departments, agencies, and strategic partners to exchange views and proposals based on their expertise and authority, focusing particularly on action plan coordination, intervention projects, resource needs, and collaborative efforts.

The engagement session saw active participation from Bagan Dalam assemblyman K. Kumaran, representatives of state assemblymen, heads of government departments and agencies, representatives of local authorities, senior police officers, strategic partners, and chairmen of Rukun Tetangga Areas.
