Johor bahru: Police have arrested five foreign men to assist in the investigation into the murder of a man in Southkey here on March 14. Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad reported that the 32-year-old foreign victim was attacked with a sharp weapon in the incident at about 5 am and was confirmed dead at the Sultan Ismail Hospital due to a stab wound to the neck.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, several suspects believed to be involved were detected trying to flee, including to Singapore after committing the crime. One of the suspects was arrested by Division D9, Criminal Investigation Division, Johor Bahru South district police headquarters while attempting to pass through immigration checks to Singapore on March 18 at about 12.15 am.
On March 19 at about 6 pm, four more suspects were arrested with the assistance of the Singapore police. Ab Rahaman stated that urine tests found all suspects were negative for drugs and had no criminal records.
He further mentioned that the first suspect was remanded for seven days starting March 18, while the other four were also remanded for the same period starting March 20. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
