Five Arrested for Suspected Diesel Misappropriation in Perak Operation

Manjung:The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has uncovered a suspected diesel misappropriation scheme involving fishing boats during a raid at a private jetty in Manjung, Perak. The operation, part of Ops Tiris 4.0, led to the seizure of items valued at more than RM587,000.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the enforcement director-general, Datuk Azman Adam, stated that the raid on October 27 resulted in the arrest of five men, including two locals and three foreign nationals, who are now assisting with investigations. The operation was prompted by complaints of suspicious activities involving controlled goods.

The raid revealed a boat transferring diesel to another vessel at the jetty, with an inspection uncovering several tanks containing an estimated 3,592 litres of diesel. Enforcement officers also discovered pumps and hoses believed to be used for transferring the diesel between boats.

KPDN seized two boats, diesel, equipment used for fuel transfer, relevant documents, and a mobile phone to aid in the investigation. The total value of the seized items was estimated at RM587,219.45. The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, with further investigations ongoing to determine the diesel supply source and identify additional individuals involved.

Additionally, since the launch of Ops Tiris 4.0 on March 16, a total of 1,587 cases have been recorded from 128,239 inspections nationwide. This has led to the arrest of 522 individuals and the seizure of controlled goods valued at RM15.31 million, with the overall value of all items seized reaching RM79.2 million.
