Shah alam: Mosque administrators in Selangor who continue to allow unaccredited preachers to give lectures or teach may face dismissal, said State Islamic Religious Affairs and Cultural Innovation Committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah. He emphasized that this measure was crucial to maintaining the sanctity and integrity of dakwah in Selangor and safeguarding the people’s faith.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mohammad Fahmi stressed the importance of a firm approach by the state government. Mosque administrators who permit individuals without teaching credentials to conduct teachings should be dismissed to adhere to the mosque management model, preventing any violations. The issue revolves around inviting preachers without the necessary teaching credentials, which is strictly prohibited. If such instances occur, the mosque administrator must face dismissal.
The statement came in response to a case involving an independent speaker who is under investigation for allegedly disseminating sex videos featuring his wives and several women while actively giving religious talks in Selangor. The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) had already revoked the preacher’s teaching credentials in 2022, as confirmed by MAIS chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin. The individual was previously detained by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department in September 2024 for teaching without valid credentials.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohammad Fahmi revealed that action had been taken against at least 87 mosque administrators in Selangor due to complaints related to management misconduct.
