Firefighters Take Over Eight Hours To Put Out Warehouse Blaze

Sungai bakap: Firefighters took over eight hours to put out a blaze involving a wood pallet storage area at a warehouse in Sungai Bakap here today. Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said they received an emergency call at 3.17 am regarding the warehouse fire.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a team of firefighters and a fire engine from the Sungai Bakap Fire and Rescue Station was sent to the location and managed to bring the blaze under control at 5.16 am. The fire also involved the roof structure of the open warehouse, and the fire department constructed a ‘fire break’ to prevent the blaze from spreading, assisted by the nearby Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS).

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The blaze was finally extinguished at 11.46 am and no one was injured. The firefighting operation was carried out by over 50 personnel from the Sungai Bakap, Nibong Tebal, Bandar Perda, and Kepala Batas fire stations.
