Firefighters Struggle to Contain Pasir Gudang Dump Fire

Pasir Gudang:A fire broke out last night at a rubbish disposal site in Jalan Muhibbah, Kampung Pasir Putih, near Pasir Gudang. The Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station responded to the emergency call received at 10.04 pm, deploying 18 personnel, fire engines, and equipment, including assistance from the Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue Station.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Senior Fire Officer I Mohd Zuhdieyusni Said reported that by 3.17 am, the fire had spread over 500 square feet (46.45 square meters). The blaze was affecting an area with stored fibre material, including piles of buoy blocks stacked up to 10 feet high.

Efforts to combat the fire have been challenging due to a lack of nearby water sources. Firefighters have resorted to using portable pumps to draw seawater and have had to make repeated trips to the nearest fire hydrant, 3.5 kilometers away, to refill their water tanks.

Firefighting operations are still underway, and fortunately, no casualties have been reported. The incident gained attention on social media, with several photographs and videos circulating showing the fire last night.
