Kuantan: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has submitted the Fire Services (Amendment) Bill 2025, passed by Parliament on March 5, to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, seeking his consent before it is sent for gazette in the Government Gazette. The bill, introduced by Minister Nga Kor Ming, aims to improve the management and regulatory framework of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), including support for the Volunteer Fire Squad and fire cadets.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the bill, which was passed by the Senate on March 23, also encompasses regulations for Fire Safety Consultants and Consulting Firms, Competent Persons and Fire Safety Contractors, Registered Training Providers and Instructors, and Fire Fighting Equipment. Nga stated that once the King’s consent is obtained, the bill will be gazetted and subsequently enforced by JBPM.
