Bachok: Three building blocks at Sekolah Menengah Ugama (A) Darul Ulum Muhammadiah, Kolam, Pak Badol caught fire this afternoon. Bachok Fire and Rescue Station senior officer Khairul Arifin Ramli reported that the buildings suffered extensive damage, with 98 percent, 80 percent, and 30 percent damage respectively, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the fire department received a distress call at 3:37 pm, and the fire engine arrived at the location, approximately 12 kilometers away, at 3:56 pm. Firefighting teams from Ketereh, Pasir Tumboh, and Pengkalan Chepa assisted in the operation to extinguish the fire, with 25 personnel involved. Khairul stated that the fire was brought under control by 4:10 pm, but efforts were still ongoing to ensure that no source of fire remained to cause a recurrence.
Meanwhile, school principal Ahmad Norisham Ab Halim explained that the fire broke out when students were engaged in outdoor activities. They were immediately instructed to gather at the school field as a safety precaution once the fire was discovered. The school has decided to conduct learning from home until Thursday as a result of the incident.
