Felda’s Transformation to Strengthen National Pride, Says Ahmad Zahid

Kuala lumpur: Felda is undergoing a transformation process by reorganising its strengths to face new challenges, to remain relevant, sustainable and continue to be the pride of the country, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. In a post on X, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, highlighted that Felda is not just relying on traditional sectors but is venturing into new fields such as education, entrepreneurship, food technology, arts, and culture to ensure its success.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, since its establishment 69 years ago, Felda has played a critical role in rural development, providing opportunities for more than 112,638 settlers and almost three million Felda generations to enjoy a better life. Ahmad Zahid emphasized that Felda is evolving beyond rubber, oil palm, and land schemes, reorganizing its strengths to face emerging challenges while maintaining its status as a national pride.

Ahmad Zahid expressed his appreciation to all Felda settlers for their efforts and unwavering spirit since its inception. He affirmed that with the support of all parties, Felda will continue to be a catalyst for rural prosperity and a strategic asset for the country. Since its beginning, Felda’s mandate has been to provide land to the landless, create dignified jobs, and eradicate poverty, which remains the foundation of its ongoing success.

Looking towards 2025, Ahmad Zahid announced several key agendas aimed at restoring Felda’s values and dignity to a higher level. These include strengthening the economic well-being of settlers through increased income, new opportunities, and community empowerment, aligning with national goals to uphold settlers’ services and ensuring they remain integral to rural and national development.

Additionally, Ahmad Zahid stated that Felda’s role in the global food and commodity industry needs to be bolstered, considering Malaysia’s emergence as a major player in the global palm oil industry through FGV, the world’s third-largest crude palm oil producer. Prioritizing the development of Felda’s new generation through quality education, skills training, and entrepreneurial support is also crucial.

A notable achievement this year was the success of the MaresmaF Wind Orchestra (MAWO) from MRSM Ulul Albab Felda Trolak, which won the Golden Diploma Award at the 26th Prague International Wind Orchestra Festival, showcasing the Felda generation’s capability on the international stage.

Ahmad Zahid also announced that this year’s annual Settlers’ Day carnival will be combined with the Village Entrepreneurs’ Carnival (KUD) and the One District One Industry (SDSI) Showcase, forming the 3-Dimensional Mega Carnival (MK3D). Themed “My Village is Global,” the Mega Carnival will run from July 30 to August 3, serving as a platform to promote Felda products and introduce the community’s hard work to the world, fostering innovation, tourism, business, and cultural heritage.
