Kuala lumpur: The government will continue to strengthen the country's climate change agenda, in line with Malaysia's commitment under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the necessity for the Federal Government to collaborate closely with state governments to ensure that every climate change-related policy and strategy is implemented inclusively and effectively.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted this need during the National Climate Change Action Council Meeting (MTPIN), which he chaired. The meeting reviewed the progress of initiatives aimed at bolstering Malaysia's efforts to tackle climate-related challenges. Anwar reiterated the importance of comprehensive engagement with state governments, ensuring that policies and strategies are developed inclusively, in accordance with the Federal Constitution, while respecting the jurisdiction and role of the states.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the MADANI Government remains committed to aligning the national development agenda with environmental preservation efforts, striving for a sustainable future for upcoming generations.
