FBM KLCI Futures Decline Amid Lower Turnover

KUALA LUMPUR: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives experienced a downturn today, reflecting the performance of the underlying cash market.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the trading session concluded with the new spot month January 2025 dropping 4.0 points to settle at 1,638.0. Similarly, the February 2025 contract was recorded at 1,641.5, while the March 2025 contract saw a decline of 3.0 points, closing at 1,624.0. The June 2025 contract also decreased by 3.5 points to finish at 1,629.0.

Market activity showed a decrease in turnover, which fell to 8,280 lots from Tuesday’s 10,744 lots. Additionally, open interest contracted to 43,615 contracts, compared to the previous 47,278 contracts. At the 5 p.m. close, the FBM KLCI itself had fallen by 9.46 points, or 0.58 percent, bringing it to 1,632.87 from Tuesday’s closing figure of 1,642.33. The market had been closed on Wednesday in observance of the New Year holiday.
