Kuala lumpur: Fathers among Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel should be continuously empowered due to their significant responsibilities and sacrifices for the nation, stated Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the Prime Minister's wife and Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament. She emphasized the importance of support mechanisms like the National Family Compassion Policy (DKKN), which could assist these fathers in fulfilling their roles, particularly when their duties require extended absences from their families.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Wan Azizah highlighted the necessity of supporting men to bolster the family unit and enhance awareness about the crucial role fathers play as a cornerstone of family life. "We also want fathers to be supported in strengthening and realizing the importance of their role as leaders in the family," she remarked during the 2026 Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Father's Day Celebration with MAF personnel.

The event, themed 'Sehebat KASIH Bapa', was organized by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the MAF. It gathered around 500 participants, including fathers, spouses, and children of MAF personnel, alongside representatives from various government agencies. The programme aimed to honor the contributions and sacrifices of fathers, particularly those in the MAF, who often have to be away from their families in service to the country.

LPPKN has initiated efforts such as the Fatherhood Module, which centers on parenting skills, and the Men Empowerment Network (MEN) to fortify support for fathers within the MAF.
