Family of Three Killed In Accident, Driver Tested Positive For Drugs Arrested

Kuala lumpur: Three family members were killed after the motorcycle they were on collided head-on with a Perodua Aruz at Jalan Batu 17, Hulu Langat, Kajang this morning. The car driver was arrested after testing positive for drugs, said Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in the 7.56 am incident, the victims, a 34-year-old mechanic, his 32-year-old wife, and their three-year-old son, were confirmed dead at the scene. Investigations found that the family was travelling from their home in Batu 18, Hulu Langat, towards Nanding when the Perodua Aruz is believed to have entered the motorcycle's lane, causing the collision.

"The impact of the crash caused all three victims to be thrown off the motorcycle. They were pronounced dead at the location," Naazron said in a statement today.

Naazron said checks found that the 42-year-old car driver has two previous criminal records related to drug offences. A preliminary urine test found him positive for methamphetamine. He mentioned that the suspect would be brought to the Kajang Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning for a remand application.

"Members of the public with information regarding the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station or reach out to Kajang District Police Headquarters (IPD) Traffic Investigating Officer Insp Mohd Raziman Rasid at 019-4565502 to assist in investigations," he said. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
