FAMA Targets RM500,000 In Potential Sales At MIFB 2026

Kuala lumpur: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is targeting RM500,000 in potential sales through 10 entrepreneur companies under its Contract Farming Project at the Malaysian International Food and Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) 2026. FAMA stated that participation is expected to open new export market opportunities through business-matching sessions with international buyers.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, participating in the international trade fair serves as a strategic platform to expand market access for local agrifood entrepreneurs and boost the global competitiveness of national produce. Through the FAMA Pavilion, 10 entrepreneur companies under the Contract Farming Project are showcasing 50 stock-keeping units (SKUs) of local agriculture-based products. These include downstream coconut products, bananas, tempeh, melons, bird's nest, vegetables, flowers, jackfruit, mushrooms, Small and Medium Industry (SMI) products, sugarcane items, and frozen durians.

Among the participating entrepreneurs at the FAMA Pavilion are Marhad Trading, ZBM Agrotech, Crop Power Sdn Bhd, Beamers Net Sdn Bhd, Mycelia Resources, Nesq Resources (M) Sdn Bhd, Sweetcane Sdn Bhd, FAMA Corporation Sdn Bhd, 3Bumi Trading Sdn Bhd, and Makatas Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd. FAMA mentioned that, in addition to product promotion, participation in MIFB 2026 provides entrepreneurs with exposure to global market trends, certification requirements, and international compliance standards essential to enhancing product competitiveness.

The three-day MIFB 2026 began yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and is expected to attract over 15,000 visitors. The opening ceremony was officiated by Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Chan Foong Hin, alongside FAMA deputy director-general (Agrifood Industry Development) Suraya Mohd Yusof. Throughout the exhibition, FAMA is hosting interactive activities including cooking demonstrations by professional chefs featuring local livestock such as turkey, rabbit, and quail. There are also fruit-tasting sessions and a campaign promoting the 'Malaysia's Best' brand to raise consumer awareness of quality certifications for local products and encourage more producers to seek certification.

Participation in MIFB 2026 also serves as an early promotional platform for the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026, scheduled to take place from Aug 28 to Sept 6. FAMA will continue empowering local agrifood entrepreneurs by providing high-impact marketing platforms, broadening domestic and international market access, and increasing value-add for the country's agricultural produce.

The statement added that these efforts align with the aspirations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) to strengthen national food security, boost the income of farmers and entrepreneurs, and consolidate Malaysia's position as a globally competitive agrifood hub.
