Faizal Tahir’s ‘Aku Berjanji’ Selected As HKHM 2026 Theme Song

Kuala lumpur: The song titled 'Aku Berjanji', composed and performed by Faizal Tahir, has been selected as the patriotic theme song for the national month in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 celebrations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the song was performed for the first time before the public at the launch of National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign 2026 (MPBKKJG 2026), held at the Sultan Azlan Shah Ministry of Health Malaysia Training Institute here today.

Faizal stated that the song carries messages of togetherness, unity and the spirit of love for the country in an effort to defend the nation's sovereignty. He expressed gratitude, saying, "Alhamdulillah, a song composed by me and my team has been chosen as the national theme song this year. It is an honour for me, after almost 20 years in the industry, to be able to contribute something."

He added, "Hopefully, this song will inspire Malaysians and unite us through the art of music," when speaking to Bernama after the event.

He further explained that the production of the two-minute-29-second song took about a month to complete, while the idea of creating a work themed around national spirit began taking shape around May.

Faizal Tahir previously gained attention as the runner-up in the reality programme 'One In A Million' in 2006 and later achieved recognition by winning the Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) 2008 with his song 'Sampai Syurga'.

The song 'Aku Berjanji' is available for download by the public through the Merdeka360 portal from 12.30 pm today.
