Fahmi Supports Healthy Lifestyle Initiative By Joining ‘Jom 10,000 Langkah’ Walk

Kuala lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, along with over 100 ministry personnel, today joined the Jom 10,000 Langkah programme in support of the National Agenda for a Healthy Malaysia (ANMS). The ministry’s secretary-general, Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, also participated in the 3.6-kilometre walk that started at Menara Komunikasi.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, today’s event marked Fahmi’s first participation in the programme, which is now in its sixth edition, organised by the ministry. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Health (MOH), the ANMS is an ongoing initiative promoting a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians, in line with the aspiration to make Malaysia a healthier nation by 2030.

As part of the initiative, the MOH launched the 10,000 Steps Walking Campaign in 2009 to encourage the public to be more active by walking at least 150 to 300 minutes per week at a moderate pace. Walking not only helps improve physical fitness but also reduces the risk of non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and depression.
