Fahmi Presents Malaysia Day Invitation To Sarawak Governor

Kuching: Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil today paid a courtesy call on Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar to present an official invitation to the Malaysia Day celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tomorrow night. Fahmi said the visit also provided an opportunity to brief Wan Junaidi on final preparations for the celebration, which is scheduled to run from 8.15 pm to about 10.30 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed satisfaction with the proceedings of the courtesy call. He mentioned that both he and Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah presented the invitation to the Governor for the upcoming celebration. Fahmi assured that all preparations are on track, with a few technical aspects to be fine-tuned to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.

Present at the meeting were Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister and Minister-in-Charge of the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah. During the hour-long meeting, Wan Junaidi shared insights from his extensive experience, particularly from his service in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Fahmi also updated Wan Junaidi on the publication of a special book about the Governor by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) and discussed related programmes, including a thanksgiving ceremony at the State Mosque and a Malaysia Day exhibition organised by the Information Department. About 5,000 people are expected to attend the Malaysia Day celebration at BCCK, with the attendance of notable figures such as Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, along with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
