Kuala Lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil congratulated the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) for receiving the Best Media (Agency) Award at the 2025 National Labour Day celebration held at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil here today. He noted that this achievement reaffirms Bernama’s credibility as the country’s official news agency and also brings honour to the Communications Ministry.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presented the award to Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin. Bernama was awarded a trophy and RM10,000 in cash, marking a significant recognition of its role in delivering accurate, timely, and trustworthy information to the public through various news platforms.

The award was one of two new categories introduced by the Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA). A total of 12 recipients were honoured this year, including the newly introduced Public Sector National Worker Icon Award (Senior Management), which was awarded to Deputy Director-General of Education (School Operations Sector) Zainal Abas.

The event saw the presence of Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, and other Cabinet ministers. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and heads of various agencies also attended.

With the theme ‘Pekerja Kesuma Bangsa’, this year’s celebration highlighted the vital role of workers as the backbone of the country and key drivers of sustainability, justice, and well-being. Over 10,000 workers from various sectors, including public and private agencies, participated in the event.
