Kuala lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has offered condolences to the family of Mariamah Tijo, 76, who passed away today. Fahmi described Mariamah as a legendary figure with a golden voice that generations grew up listening to.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed that Mariamah's voice was a faithful companion to many, and her passing leaves behind irreplaceable memories. In 2024, Fahmi had presented Mariamah with a donation from Tabung Kasih@HAWANA through her son, as a gesture of the government's support for media veterans.

Fahmi highlighted Mariamah's long tenure at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) as a radio announcer and broadcaster from the 1970s to 2006, noting her dedication and service. He also prayed for her soul to be showered with mercy and placed among the faithful.
