Kuala Lumpur: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today engaged with the Arts, Live Festival and Events Association (ALIFE), which represents concert organisers and major ticketing companies, to review the existing mechanisms for ticket refunds in the event of concert cancellations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi shared in a Facebook post that the discussions also delved into the rights of ticket buyers as protected under consumer protection laws. He highlighted that, besides going through ticketing agents, consumers have the option to seek compensation through the Tribunal for Consumer Claims, which is responsible for assessing and determining their eligibility for refunds.
Fahmi emphasized that the dialogue with ALIFE reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring there is a fair and effective mechanism in place for compensation.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Enforcement Division director-general Datuk Azman Adam, and Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Section director Zubir Hamsa.
