Batu pahat: The upcoming Johor state election transcends mere political rivalry and serves as a pivotal moment to chart the future trajectory of the state and enhance the well-being of its residents, stated Pakatan Harapan (PH) Communications Director Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. This sentiment was shared during the launch of the coalition's election machinery in Batu Pahat, where over 5,000 party workers and local residents gathered.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, during the event, PH chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted that the election was not initiated on his behalf, urging that the central focus remain on initiatives benefiting the people. DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke underscored the simultaneous elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan as crucial for maintaining continuity and political stability nationwide.
Fahmi further noted that Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu called for alignment between state and Federal Government efforts, emphasizing Johor's vast potential and the need for development to genuinely benefit the majority. The dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly on June 1 has set the stage for the upcoming election.
The Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to convene a special meeting on June 12 to discuss and finalize key dates for the elections, including the issuance of the election writ, nomination day, and polling day.
