Fahmi Advocates for Enhanced Media Accessibility for the Disabled Community

Kuala Lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has emphasized the critical need for more inclusive media access for individuals with hearing disabilities, focusing on television and digital platforms.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi shared insights from a meeting held with key stakeholders, including Malaysia Federation of the Deaf (MFD) advisor Mohamad Sazali Shaari, Malaysian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (MyAsli) president Wan Zuraidah Abu, and her deputy Goh Soo Leng. The meeting took place at Fahmi’s office, where the discussions revolved around strategies to enhance media accessibility for the deaf community.

In a Facebook post, Fahmi expressed gratitude to the attendees for their visit and the valuable discussion, which was highlighted by a 90-second video accompanying the post. Fahmi underscored the importance of media outlets increasing their support by broadcasting and producing more content that is accessible to individuals with disabilities, aiming to ensure that everyone has equal access to information.
