Factory Worker Survives 9-Metre Fall at Cement Factory in Ipoh

Ipoh: A factory worker survived after falling 30 feet (9.144 metres) from a cement factory building in Persiaran Tasek, Tasek Industrial Estate here today. Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the 23-year-old man sustained only minor injuries in the incident.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department received a call on the accident at 4.50 pm, and personnel from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene six minutes later. "Upon arrival, firefighters found that the victim had sustained minor injuries and a sprain after falling from a silo onto a roof before landing inside the factory building while carrying out repair works," Sabarodzi said in a statement tonight.

Sabarodzi explained that firefighters applied the SAVER (Systematic Approach to Victim Entrapment Rescue) concept to bring the victim down safely. After the rescue, the man was examined by Health Ministry medical personnel and taken to hospital for further treatment. The operation concluded at 6.26 pm.
