Kampung gok kapur: Footage and eyewitness accounts from the Kampung Gok Kapur fire scene have emerged as among key leads in the investigation into the cause of the blaze that razed 27 houses last Monday, said Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Farhan Sufyan Borhan. He said the department was examining all information obtained from residents and witnesses to help complete the investigation into the incident.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Farhan Sufyan stated that the fire forensic team was conducting a detailed investigation to determine the source of the fire. 'We have obtained several recordings from witnesses and individuals present at the scene when the incident occurred, and all the information is being examined to help determine the cause of the fire. In addition, four samples were taken from the scene and sent to the laboratory yesterday for analysis,' he told Bernama today.
Farhan Sufyan said the results of the laboratory analysis are expected this week, helping his department establish the cause of the fire that left dozens of families homeless. He said that based on the fire pattern identified at the scene, several hypotheses are being examined, including the possibility that the blaze was caused by an electrical system failure or cooking activities. 'We are not ruling out any other possibilities, and all aspects are still under investigation. A decision can only be made once the laboratory analysis is completed,' he said.
A total of 27 houses were destroyed when a fire broke out in Kampung Gok Kapor on Monday.
