Simpang pulai: An excavator driver was killed after he was buried alive in a landslide while carrying out slope excavation works in Simpang Pulai, near here, today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah reported that JBPM received a call regarding the incident involving the 60-year-old man at 1.52 pm.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene at 2.07 pm found the victim trapped in the excavator’s cabin after part of the slope collapsed, preventing him from being extricated. Another excavator was used to remove the soil before the victim was successfully extricated. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

He said the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action, and the operation ended at 3.20 pm.
