ETS3 Expansion to Johor Bahru Aims to Enhance Transport and Tourism: Loke

Johor bahru: The expansion of the Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) to Johor Bahru is anticipated to significantly improve public transport mobility and boost the tourism sector in Johor in preparation for Visit Malaysia 2026, as disclosed by Transport Minister Anthony Loke. The service, which is in its final phase of preparation, is set to commence operations by mid-December at the latest.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the new train service is expected to support an increase in tourist numbers during Visit Johor 2026. Transport Minister Loke mentioned that while they are still finalizing a suitable start date, the ETS service will begin no later than mid-December. This addition is seen as a vital mode of transport for Johor, particularly aiding tourism in secondary and smaller towns such as Segamat, Labis, Kluang, and Kulai.

Loke also stated that all technical work is nearing completion, and ticket prices will be announced soon. The extension of the ETS route, which previously ended in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan, now stretches south to Johor Bahru. It includes major stops in Segamat, Kluang, and Kulai, and concludes at the Johor Bahru Sentral Station, thereby completing the west coast railway line of the Peninsula.
