Etiqa Takaful and Persatuan Kebajikan Hawariyyun Provide RM308,000 Aid to Orphans in Kedah and Perlis

Kangar: Etiqa Takaful Berhad, in collaboration with the Persatuan Kebajikan Hawariyyun, has channelled RM308,000 in donations to support orphans and underprivileged students in Kedah and Perlis, as they prepare for Aidilfitri. Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad chief executive officer (CEO) Zafri Ab Halim said of the total, RM200,000 was allocated for recipients in Perlis, while the remaining amount was distributed in Kedah, to bring joy to those in need.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 310 individuals across both states benefited from the donations, which were given in the form of cash. This was revealed during the presentation ceremony at Persatuan Al Islah Perlis Teratak Rahmat. At the event, 60 orphans and underprivileged individuals under the care of Persatuan Al Islah Perlis received cash donations, along with an additional RM50,000 contribution to the association for the welfare of the orphans.

The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail graced the presentation ceremony. Also in attendance was Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Other notable attendees included the Persatuan Kebajikan Hawariyyun chairman, Al-Ikhwan Rahmattullah, and Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) CEO Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor.

According to Zafri, in addition to the direct donation at Teratak Rahmat, Etiqa Takaful, in collaboration with Persatuan Kebajikan Hawariyyun, also hosted a breaking-fast event with Perlis Mufti, Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin. The event also witnessed the presentation of donations to orphans from several other welfare homes in Perlis. Zafri noted that while they often collaborate with various NGOs, this marks their first partnership with Persatuan Kebajikan Hawariyyun to distribute donations in Kedah and Perlis.

Meanwhile, Al-Ikhwan stated that the association is working closely with MAIPs to identify suitable locations and eligible recipients, ensuring that the aid is distributed fairly and comprehensively. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation from MAIPs and the full consent of His Royal Highness Tuanku Raja Muda of Perlis in gracing the presentation ceremony.
