Ethnic, Religious Celebrations Crucial for Fostering Goodwill and Unity: Armizan

Kuala lumpur: Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali emphasized the significance of ethnic and religious celebrations, such as Chinese New Year (CNY), in promoting goodwill and enhancing unity among the people, particularly in Sabah. The Papar member of parliament highlighted that differences in religion and ethnicity have never hindered societal harmony.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Armizan stated that mutual acceptance and respect are the cornerstones of peaceful coexistence. He noted that when various communities celebrate their respective festivals, others join in the festivities, exemplifying a harmonious society. He shared his personal experience of visiting 87-year-old Lu Wong Siew, a hair salon operator in Papar, to underline this unity. Despite their different ethnic backgrounds, Armizan and Wong Siew have always maintained a bond, showcasing the community's acceptance and respect for diversity.

Armizan further urged people to emulate the qualities associated with the Horse, a symbol of agility and resilience in the Chinese calendar. He encouraged embracing these attributes in daily life to maintain the peace and prosperity currently enjoyed. Concluding his message, he called for the continued safeguarding of unity and harmony in the community.
