EPF to Implement Automatic Enrollment for Non-Malaysian Employees from October 2025

Kuala lumpur: Non-Malaysian employees holding a Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment) or an Employment Pass will be automatically registered as members from October 2025, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) said. In a statement, EPF announced this initiative to streamline the registration process, eliminating the need for employees to visit its offices. Employers can now verify registration details online using the i-Akaun (Employer) platform.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, employers impacted by this change have been notified through letters issued starting September 20, 2025. Employers are instructed to schedule an appointment via a URL link provided in the notice letter to register employees who were not automatically registered. They are also required to update information and verify thumbprints for those who have been successfully registered.

For employees holding other types of passes, the EPF stated that registration and record updates will continue to be accommodated at EPF offices nationwide. Employers can proceed with contribution payments using the EPF number provided for successfully registered employees.

The EPF emphasized the responsibility of employers to ensure that accurate monthly contributions are deducted from employees’ wages and submitted to the EPF by the 15th of each month. This new policy, effective October 1, 2025, mandates all unregistered companies to register with the EPF, ensuring contributions for their workers. Both employers and employees are required to each contribute two percent of wages, with payments due monthly by the 15th.

Additionally, employers must maintain and update employees’ payroll records for EPF inspections. This includes updating contact details, changes in company name or status, and notifying EPF in cases of business cessation or termination of all employees. Employers are also advised to guide employees on applying for the Leaving the Country Withdrawal two months before their work permit expires and ensure all supporting documents for eligible withdrawals are properly verified and complete.
