Kuching: All tourism players in Sarawak have been urged to ensure products, services, and existing facilities are of the highest quality in time for Visit Malaysia Year 2026. Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah emphasized the importance of these aspects as Malaysia will be under global scrutiny during the tourism campaign.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Karim stated that any damaged facilities should be repaired immediately as this affects the image of Sarawak and the country. He emphasized the need for prompt action, highlighting that authorities should not wait for visitors to voice complaints on social media about issues such as dirty toilets or damaged jetties in national parks.
He also called on tourist guides to actively participate in maintaining high standards. He noted that guides, being on the ground, often notice problems but may not report them to the authorities. Abdul Karim’s remarks were made following his attendance at a Sarawak tourism industry engagement session.
